Ascension Academy Advanced Placement Biology Teacher Dian Gerber and her students attended the annual Genetics Update Conference at Randall High Tuesday, January 31, 2012.  

"It was fun because the students realized how much they've already learned this year.  Because the keynote speaker was a college professor and the conference was conducted in a college-like atmosphere, it was inspiring to those students who are considering a biology career.  We were in awe of what's going on in the areas of cancer research and how close scientists are to being able to control cancer on a molecular level," said Gerber.
