Medication Policy

The following guidelines have been established for students taking prescription and non-prescription medication. 

Medication will be given by the school nurse or school nurse designee.

Written requests for all medication must contain:

Student name

Name of medication

Amount of medication to be given

When medication must be given

Parent/guardian signature

MEDICATION TAKEN FOR 15 DAYS OR LESS

  • Prescription medications: must be in their original pharmacy container and properly labeled by pharmacist. Written request by parent/guardian must accompany the prescribed medication
  • Non-Prescription medications: must be in their original container

MEDICATION FOR 15 DAYS OR MORE

  • All prescription medication and non-prescription medication to be administered at school must be in original container accompanied by a written request signed and dated by a physician and parent/guardian requesting this service.

MEDICATION TAKEN AS NEEDED-( Tylenol, Motrin, Tums/Rolaids, OTC  allergy medication and cough drops)

  • All medication must be in their original container. A written request signed and dated by parent/guardian. This permission from must be renewed each school year.

  • Students who must carry inhalers/epi-pens with them must provide a written statement from physician and parent/guardian allowing him/her to do so.

  • No phone authorization will be accepted
  • The school will not furnish any medication.
  • Aspirin (Salicylate) will not be given unless prescribed by a physician.
  • The school will not administer herbal supplements.
