Ascension Graduates Offered More Than $1.2 Million in Scholarship Offers
Amarillo, TX- After earning a cumulative total of more than $1.2 Million in scholarship offers, each graduate of Ascension Academy’s class of 2010 will go to the post graduate destination of their choice.
This is the second year in row Ascension graduates have earned more than $1M in scholarship offers, with this year’s class earning more than the class of 2009 by $20,000 with a grand total of $1,265,204!.
“It is rewarding to see the students' efforts pay off when it is time to go to college. This group has worked hard to make the college process successful for them,” said College Counselor Jane Howk.
Howk works directly with each Ascension student beginning their ninth grade year to prepare them for college application season. During the junior year, students begin applying to colleges and universities, taking their SAT and ACT exams, and applying for academic scholarships.
“Students who are pushed to excel in critical thinking, mathematical computation, scientific research and essay writing have a leg up when it comes to success in college. That’s what an Ascension Academy education is all about, and this year’s fine scholarship performance by our graduates is a wonderful confirmation of the quality of our program in the judgment of college admissions officers.” said Head of School Dr. William Summerhill.
The Class of 2020 will be heading to the following destinations: Emma Beckham will attend the University of Dallas; Haley Boren will attend Brookhaven College in Dallas; Hannah Boren will attend Belmont in Nashville, TN; Alex Galvan will attend Oklahoma State University where he received a full scholarship; Allie Gray will attend Amarillo College; Ben Lewis and Leo Looten will attend Texas Tech University; and Tori Smith will attend West Texas A&M University.
