Students Receive Gold and Silver Medal in National Latin exam

Amarillo, TX- Two Ascension Academy students recently received recognition from the National Junior Classical League after their performance on Ascension's first ever National Classical Etymology Exam.

Sophomore Alan Orr received a Gold medal and Freshman Sebastian Bullard a Silver medal after scoring so high on the test.

The exam, given in December, consisted of 50 questions covering both Greek and Latin roots of English Words.

Only 70 of the 2300 students across the nation participating in the exam scored higher than Orr, and Bullard missed the Gold medal by a single question.

In addition, eighth-grader Allison Kaczmarek, and Freshmen Felix Lang and Abby Gonzales were each one question away from receiving Bronze medals.

Congratulations to these students and Latin Teacher Larry Martin.
