Choir Students Take a Field Trip to Watch Peer in Joshua’s Boots
Amarillo, TX- Ascension Academy Choir Director Grace Ladehoff is taking her choir students to the Globe News Center for the Performing Arts to see one of their peers perform in Amarillo Opera’s Joshua’s Boots Thursday, February 2 at 1 p.m.
Seventh-grader Molly Martindale is a cast member in the opera which tells the story of an African American cowboy who travels from the South to the Midwest and meets up with a cattle drive.
The production is part of Amarillo Opera’s Lift Every Voice. The annual event commemorates the beginning of Black History Month.
Martindale is singing in the chorus of the production. This is her first production with Amarillo Opera. “It’s fun working with professionals because they teach me a lot, and it’s good to know that [my peers] support me,” said Martindale.
