Ascension Music Programs Compete in “Spring in the Park” Music Festival
Amarillo, TX- Ascension Academy’s Advanced Orchestra and High School Choir are home from the Metroplex with four trophies to show off after their performances in the “Spring in the Park” Music Festival in Dallas.
Ascension Orchestra Director Eleonora Lopez and Choir Director Grace Ladehoff took the students to Dallas to compete in the festival, spend a day at Six Flags Over Texas, and attend the Dallas Symphony Orchestra concert.
During the competition, the Orchestra performed the 3rd movement of Mozart’s Divertimento in F major, the Andante Cantabile from the string quartet by Tchaikowsky, and Copland’s Hoe Down at the Metro Center Auditorium in Arlington. They received a trophy for “Superior” ratings from the judges, a trophy for “Best in Classification,” and they were awarded “Grand Champions” for Best Overall Instrumental Group!
The Ascension High School Choir received a trophy for Division I superior ratings from the judges.
