Mr. Miller joins Ascension Academy again as a protestant religion teacher after a brief retirement. Mr. Miller was a minister of music and youth and/or education for almost 40 years in Texas and Oklahoma churches. His most recent full-time ministry was for 20 years at Bell Avenue Baptist Church in Amarillo, as Minister of Music and Education from which he retired in 1997. He also worked for Outreach Health Services as a chaplain, traveling some 1500 miles a week all over the Texas panhandle for about five years.
In addition to his teaching role at Ascension, Mr. Miller directs the senior-adult choir at Paramount Baptist Church, in Amarillo, where his family are members. He also enjoys singing in the Panhandle Singing Men of Texas, a group of ministers of music and other church staff members who meet monthly to rehearse and present concerts in churches in the Panhandle of Texas.
Mr. Miller grew up on a farm near Hereford, TX. He attended and graduated from West Texas A & M University in Canyon, TX. He received music degrees also from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX; Phillips University in Enid, OK; and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX.
Mr. Miller's hobbies are arranging and composing music, collecting humor in various forms, cleaning and repairing computers and managing websites for teens.
