College Guidance
Greetings from Ascension’s Counselor!
Ascension Academy aspires to ensure our graduates admission to the colleges of their choice, and fulfilling that goal begins with preparation. This preparation starts in sixth grade with personal attention given to each student’s goals, and continues to graduation and beyond. The counseling department works in close conjunction with our teachers to provide direction in areas of study skills and organization, thereby setting students up for future success.
Personal and group counseling sessionsare available for topics such as social skills, communication, and interpersonal relationships. Students are taught proper techniques to ensure that they are equipped to take responsibility for their own academic success.
Ascension students are provided opportunities to explore careers and be part of mentoring programs. They are introduced to college admission coordinators and encouraged to make early contact and application. Ascension freshmen, sophomores, and juniors prepare for college entrance exams with PSAT test and SAT study classes offered as elective courses.
As College Counselor, I get to know all our students and can help them individually tailor their college admission process. My office provides individual support for students as they maneuver the college application and admission process, managing each student’s progression from initial application to final decision making. I arrange and sponsor several scholarship and financial aid seminars each year that provide our students and parents with valuable information as they make this important decision.
I invite you to come by my office and visit with me about the many ways that your child will receive individual attention while at Ascension! You may also visit my Counselor's page by clicking here.
