Originally from Connecticut, Mrs. Lopez received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Connecticut and Master of Music degree in Cello Performance from the Yale School of Music. She has taught in the Suzuki program at Amarillo College, and has performed with Chamber Music Amarillo and the Amarillo Symphony. She is a member of the Texas Music Educators Association, has taught at Interlochen Arts Camp, and has been selected to the Who's Who Among America's Teachers. She has taught at Ascension Academy since 2000, and has taken the orchestra to State contest, winning either State Champions or Runner Up every year at the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools State Instrumental Contest. In 2009, the Ascension Academy String Ensemble competed at the Winter Park Music Festival in Colorado, and was awarded trophies for Superior Performance, Best Performance by an Instrumental Group, and Grand Champions for Best Overall Performance at the festival.
During her free time, Mrs. Lopez enjoys water color painting and spending time with her children, Susie and Daniel, who are both students at Ascension, and her husband, Emmanuel Lopez, who is the cellist of the Harrington String Quartet, Principal Cellist of the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, and music faculty at WTAMU.
