Biography

B. Music Oboe Performance, Augustana College

Originally from Wisconsin, Rebecca moved to Amarillo in 2019 with her husband, Christian Anderson. While he began working at Caprock as the assistant orchestra director, Rebecca started working on her Master of Music at West Texas A&M University. She spent the 2019-2020 school year as a full time student, during which she conducted the orchestra under the direction of Dr. Mark Bartley. The following year she began teaching, first as a long term substitute for orchestra at Amarillo High School, and the next year as head orchestra director at Lorenzo de Zavala Middle School. While she has taught orchestra in recent years, her start to music education was in band. She began playing oboe in 5th grade, and went on to play in her high school drumline as well as the Milwaukee Youth Symphonic Band and Youth Wind Orchestra of Wisconsin. She then learned to conduct band at Augustana College under the direction of Dr. James Lambrecht.

Rebecca and her husband have an 18 month old daughter named Mariana, who loves to sing along as they practice their instruments at home.
