Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Why does Ascension Academy ask for gifts in addition to tuition?
A. Tuition at Ascension, like all private schools, does not entirely cover the cost of each student’s education. In 2009-2010 the school spent over $12,600 on each of its students. This exceeds the cost of tuition by more than $6,000. Annual Fund gifts, special events and individual gifts from major donors make up close to 50 percent of Ascension’s budget, while tuition covers 50 percent.
Q. How are Annual Fund Contributions Used?
A. Gifts to the Annual Fund go directly to the operations of the school, making up a portion of the budget. These monies allow Ascension to provide educational opportunities and support the faculty who prepare our students for college. By supporting Ascension through either specific gifts or undesignated giving, you are ensuring quality education for our students.
Every gift makes a difference. Gifts of $100 can provide additional textbooks; $500 could purchase science equipment; $1000, a new computer for the student computer lab; $5000, instruments for the orchestra; or $10,000, upgrading an entire room to meet today’s technological demands.
