Ascension Academy Announces Launch of
Montessori Preschool for 2026–2027 School Year

Amarillo, TX — May 13, 2026 — Ascension Academy, the only college preparatory school in the Texas panhandle, serving students in grades 5–12, is proud to announce the expansion of its academic offerings with the launch of Ascension Academy Montessori Preschool, opening for the 2026–2027 school year.

Designed for children ages 3–5, the new preschool—branded as the “Little Cardinals” or "Fledglings"—will provide a nurturing, developmentally-focused Montessori environment that fosters independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. Students must be independently potty-trained to enroll.

The preschool will be located on the Ascension Academy campus in a dedicated, separate building, offering young learners a space tailored specifically to their developmental needs while remaining connected to the broader Ascension community.

The program will be led by Emma Beckham and Kate Beckham, both experienced educators certified in Montessori instruction. Their leadership brings a strong foundation in child-centered education and hands-on learning practices that are central to the Montessori philosophy.

Ascension Academy Montessori Preschool will operate on a five-day school week, following the same daily schedule and academic calendar as the main campus, providing consistency and convenience for families.

Enrollment will be intentionally limited to preserve a low student-to-teacher ratio and ensure a high-quality experience. Current Ascension Academy families will receive priority enrollment access.
