Active in curriculum development in CISD, Miss Swauger has been a presenter at Panhandle Area Mathematics and Science Conference, the Conference for the Advancement of Mathematics Teaching, Tech Prep (local, regional and state conferences), and for the College Board at AP Conferences in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas. She has served as a consultant for mathematics curriculum development in Borger ISD, Lubbock ISD, Pampa ISD, Plainview ISD, Wellington ISD and Sweeny ISD. She is also certified in Texas to teach Mathematics and Biology and retired Canyon ISD after teaching 45 years.
Miss Swauger has been the recipient of many awards including the Randall High School Hall of Fame, Randall High School Teacher Excellence Award (1999, 2004), West Texas A & M Success Together Leadership Role Model and the Texas Association of Student Councils District 1 Advisor of the Year (3 times). She has also been a nominee for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching and for the University of Texas Ex-Students Association Texas Excellence Award for Outstanding High School Teachers.
Miss Swauger is active in Merry Mini Makers of Amarillo, Zeta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma and Canyon Retired Teachers and School Personnel. She also knits 40 to 50 caps each year for disadvantaged children.
