The String Orchestra program at Ascension Academy provides in-depth training for beginners through pre-professionals. Under the tutelage of Mrs. Eleonora Lopez, students learn proper technique, musicianship skills, listening skills, and performance skills. With small class sizes, students receive individualized instruction and progress quickly. Cardinal artists perform solo string literature, chamber music and orchestral works while participating in contests. Throughout the year, Cardinals can be found at All-Region Orchestras, Amarillo Youth Orchestras, and performing for community events as well as with the Amarillo Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Music Amarillo, the WTAMU Symphony Orchestra and the Amarillo Opera.
